This artwork by Cândido Portinari achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2019. In the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work Menina sold for USD 362,500.00 (€ 325,141.27) - well above the upper estimate of USD 180,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cândido Portinari - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Meninos soltando pipas, which sold at auction in May 2013 for USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cândido Portinari erzielte im Mai 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Menina für USD 362.500,00 (€ 325.141,27) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 180.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cândido Portinari mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Meninos soltando pipas beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für USD 1.443.750,00 (€ 1.111.603,02) versteigert wurde.
