Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 30,240.00 (€ 26,791.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cândido Portinari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Meninos soltando pipas in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,443,750.00 (€ 1,111,603.02).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Retrato de Magu Leão von Cândido Portinari wurde im November 2021 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 30.240,00 (€ 26.791,88) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cândido Portinari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Meninos soltando pipas im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.443.750,00 (€ 1.111.603,02).
