Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Personae by Betye Saar. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 21,270.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Betye Saar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Her Story in May this year with an auction result of USD 315,000.00 (€ 295,663.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Personae von Betye Saar zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 21.270,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Betye Saar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Her Story im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 315.000,00 (€ 295.663,60).
