Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Betye Saar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2020. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction: Online auction, the work Honey sold for USD 44,100.00 (€ 36,909.94) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Betye Saar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Her Story in May this year with an auction result of USD 315,000.00 (€ 295,663.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Betye Saar erzielte im November 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction: Online wurde die Arbeit Honey für USD 44.100,00 (€ 36.909,94) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Betye Saar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Her Story im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 315.000,00 (€ 295.663,60).
