This artwork by Betye Saar achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in January last year. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Bookmarks in the Pages of Life sold for USD 5,355.00 (€ 4,776.13) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Betye Saar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Her Story in May this year with an auction result of USD 315,000.00 (€ 295,663.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Betye Saar erzielte im Januar letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wurde die Arbeit Bookmarks in the Pages of Life für USD 5.355,00 (€ 4.776,13) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Betye Saar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Her Story im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 315.000,00 (€ 295.663,60).
