Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two works: (i) Drawing for Sculpture (Fat Seated Figure); (ii) Drawing for Sculpture (Armed Bust Version 2) by Bernard Meadows was auctioned at Phillips in London in June this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 127.00 (€ 147.81). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bernard Meadows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Startled Bird in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 161,852.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two works: (i) Drawing for Sculpture (Fat Seated Figure); (ii) Drawing for Sculpture (Armed Bust Version 2) von Bernard Meadows im Juni diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 127,00 (€ 147,81) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bernard Meadows erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Startled Bird im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 134.500,00 (€ 161.852,75).
