Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British Art, which included the work Frightened Bird 15.2 cm. (9 7/8 in.) high (including base) by Bernard Meadows. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,144.00 (€ 7,119.56) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bernard Meadows achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Startled Bird in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 161,852.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Frightened Bird 15.2 cm. (9 7/8 in.) high (including base) von Bernard Meadows zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.144,00 (€ 7.119,56) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bernard Meadows erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Startled Bird im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 134.500,00 (€ 161.852,75).
