In May last year Christies in London held the auction The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship, which included the work Standing Mother and Child by Bernard Meadows. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 32,760.00 (€ 38,539.02), 31% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Bernard Meadows have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Startled Bird in November 2013 with an auction result of GBP 134,500.00 (€ 161,852.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 31 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship durch, in der auch die Arbeit Standing Mother and Child von Bernard Meadows zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 32.760,00 (€ 38.539,02) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bernard Meadows auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Startled Bird im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 134.500,00 (€ 161.852,75).
