Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Egyptian Sculpture Gallery, The British Museum; Still-lifes of Greco-Roman statuary by Antoine Claudet was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in London in May 2003. The price achieved of GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,831.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antoine Claudet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chess players, which sold at auction in May 2003 for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,659.74).

Die Arbeit Egyptian Sculpture Gallery, The British Museum; Still-lifes of Greco-Roman statuary von Antoine Claudet wurde im Mai 2003 in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.314,50 (€ 1.831,43) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Antoine Claudet mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Chess players beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für GBP 4.780,00 (€ 6.659,74) versteigert wurde.
