In May 2000 Christies in London held the auction Fine Photographs, which included the work Portraits, 1850s by Antoine Claudet. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,585.00 (€ 4,147.97), 72% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Antoine Claudet; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Chess players sold at auction in May 2003 with the realized price of GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,659.74).

Im Mai 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Fine Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portraits, 1850s von Antoine Claudet zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.585,00 (€ 4.147,97) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Antoine Claudet; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Chess players im Mai 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 4.780,00 (€ 6.659,74).
