Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Open House, which included the work Untitled (Red) by Alma Thomas. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,159.39) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alma Thomas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Fantastic Sunset in May this year with an auction result of USD 3,922,000.00 (€ 3,681,246.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Open House durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Red) von Alma Thomas zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.159,39) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alma Thomas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Fantastic Sunset im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.922.000,00 (€ 3.681.246,48).
