Rare Pyramid (Tyler 484:AS7)
aquatint, etching, screenprint and engraving in colors, 1978, on HMP grey with multi-colored fibers, signed and dated in pencil, numbered 8/20 (there were also 8 artist's proofs), with the Tyler Graphics, Ltd., ink stamp on the reverse, Mount Kisco, New York, the full sheet, remains of two old hinges on the reverse, otherwise in excellent condition

This artwork by Alan Shields achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2003. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Rare Pyramid (Tyler 484:AS7) sold for USD 537.75 (€ 498.89) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alan Shields achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 3, 4, 5, 6 Preponderus Chool in September last year with an auction result of USD 37,800.00 (€ 38,638.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Alan Shields erzielte im Februar 2003 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit Rare Pyramid (Tyler 484:AS7) für USD 537,75 (€ 498,89) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 300,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alan Shields erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 3, 4, 5, 6 Preponderus Chool im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.800,00 (€ 38.638,45).
