This artwork by Yokoyama Taikan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2002. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Fujisan (Mount Fuji) sold for USD 35,850.00 (€ 36,289.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yokoyama Taikan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Miho no Fujisan (Mount Fuji from Miho) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 358,000.00 (€ 411,778.24).
