Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tensei (Clear sky) by Yokoyama Taikan was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 105,000.00 (€ 124,186.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Yokoyama Taikan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Miho no Fujisan (Mount Fuji from Miho), which sold at auction in November 2000 for USD 358,000.00 (€ 411,778.24).
