Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait (Futago) by Yasumasa Morimura was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 19,037.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Yasumasa Morimura - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Inner Dialogue with Frida Kahlo, which sold at auction in November 2006 for USD 66,000.00 (€ 49,770.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait (Futago) von Yasumasa Morimura kam im September 2015 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 19.037,81) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Yasumasa Morimura mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit An Inner Dialogue with Frida Kahlo beobachtet, die im November 2006 für USD 66.000,00 (€ 49.770,00) versteigert wurde.
