Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Selected Images from School Teacher by Yasumasa Morimura was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,077.95). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yasumasa Morimura achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Inner Dialogue with Frida Kahlo in November 2006 with an auction result of USD 66,000.00 (€ 49,770.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Selected Images from School Teacher von Yasumasa Morimura im Oktober 2017 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.750,00 (€ 4.077,95) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yasumasa Morimura erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Inner Dialogue with Frida Kahlo im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 66.000,00 (€ 49.770,00).
