Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Urn by Win Knowlton was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 125.00 (€ 80.29). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Win Knowlton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled; together with a companion work by another hand in August 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,125.00 (€ 947.13).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Urn von Win Knowlton im April 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 125,00 (€ 80,29) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Win Knowlton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled; together with a companion work by another hand im August 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.125,00 (€ 947,13).
