Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Untitled, 1997 by William Wood was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,920.00 (€ 1,582.98). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Wood achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,535.59).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Untitled, 1997 von William Wood im Juli 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.920,00 (€ 1.582,98) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Wood erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.400,00 (€ 16.535,59).
