This artwork by William Wood achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2010. In the An Exceptional Eye: A Private British Collection auction, the work Portrait Of Julia Storer, Called 'Mrs Johnstone' sold for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,023.87) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Wood; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Young Officer, In Red Coat With Blue Collar, Gold Epaulette And White Cross-Belt With Gold Plate, Black Cravat sold at auction in July 2005 with the realized price of GBP 11,400.00 (€ 16,535.59).
