In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures, which included the work Sheep on the mountains, Loch Tay by William R. C. Watson. It changed hands for a price of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,219.92) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Other works by William R. C. Watson have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2008 the work Sheep grazing by a loch was auctioned for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,153.11).
