In December 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work Highland Cattle Resting Before A Loch by William R. C. Watson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 2,038.25), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William R. C. Watson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sheep grazing by a loch in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,153.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Highland Cattle Resting Before A Loch von William R. C. Watson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 2.038,25) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William R. C. Watson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sheep grazing by a loch im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 11.153,11).
