Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Highland cattle in a mountainous landscape; and Highland cattle with a calf by William R. C. Watson was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2002. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,265.39) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William R. C. Watson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sheep grazing by a loch, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,153.11).

Die Arbeit Highland cattle in a mountainous landscape; and Highland cattle with a calf von William R. C. Watson kam im März 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.265,39) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William R. C. Watson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sheep grazing by a loch beobachtet, die im Oktober 2008 für GBP 8.750,00 (€ 11.153,11) versteigert wurde.
