Marked "LA 5" in ink on verso. This notation is probably made by The Smithsonian's curator Eugene Ostroff during his inventory of the Lacock Abbey collection. Presumably from Salt print, image ca 18 x 17 cm. Sheet 22.5 x 18.5 cm.

The »bidding war« ended at SEK 42,000.00 (€ 4,105.79), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).
