Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, which included the work Lace by William Henry Fox Talbot. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,975.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lace von William Henry Fox Talbot zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.975,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Henry Fox Talbot erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.956.000,00 (€ 1.625.935,16).
