This artwork by Willard Leroy Metcalf achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in December 2013. In the American Art auction, the work On The River sold for USD 365,000.00 (€ 264,895.86) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Willard Leroy Metcalf; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot October Festival sold at auction in May 2014 with the realized price of USD 545,000.00 (€ 399,560.12).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Willard Leroy Metcalf erzielte im Dezember 2013 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit On The River für USD 365.000,00 (€ 264.895,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 150.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Willard Leroy Metcalf; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit October Festival im Mai 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 545.000,00 (€ 399.560,12).
