In June 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work November Morning by Willard Leroy Metcalf. The result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 36,258.16) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willard Leroy Metcalf achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work October Festival in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 545,000.00 (€ 399,560.12).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juni 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit November Morning von Willard Leroy Metcalf zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 36.258,16) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willard Leroy Metcalf erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit October Festival im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 545.000,00 (€ 399.560,12).
