Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Green Idleness by Willard Leroy Metcalf was auctioned at Christies in New York in August 2020. The price achieved of USD 237,500.00 (€ 198,977.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willard Leroy Metcalf - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work October Festival, which sold at auction in May 2014 for USD 545,000.00 (€ 399,560.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Green Idleness von Willard Leroy Metcalf kam im August 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 237.500,00 (€ 198.977,88) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Willard Leroy Metcalf mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit October Festival beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für USD 545.000,00 (€ 399.560,12) versteigert wurde.
