Description
WILL RYMAN (b. 1969) The Closet signed and dated 'W. Ryman 2003' (on the reverse of the cabinet) acrylic, papier-mâché, pvc pipe, wire mesh, wire, shoes, and painted wooden cabinet 67 x 68 1 ⁄ 2 x 48 in. (170 x 174 x 121.9 cm.) Executed in 2003.

Auction result misses estimated price range

In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work The Closet by Will Ryman for USD 6,300.00 (€ 6,175.26). This price was achieved in the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Will Ryman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bed in October 2013 with an auction result of GBP 97,875.00 (€ 115,687.47).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Juli letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The Closet von Will Ryman für USD 6.300,00 (€ 6.175,26) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Will Ryman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Bed im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 97.875,00 (€ 115.687,47).
