This artwork by Toyin Ojih Odutola achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2019. In the Contemporary Edition auction, the work Benjamin sold for USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,470.80) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toyin Ojih Odutola achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Through Line in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,198,000.00 (€ 1,947,373.08).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Toyin Ojih Odutola erzielte im Juli 2019 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Edition wurde die Arbeit Benjamin für USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.470,80) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Toyin Ojih Odutola erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Through Line im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.198.000,00 (€ 1.947.373,08).
