Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Within this dark channel (all you could see was what she could give you) by Toyin Ojih Odutola was sold in the 21st Century Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 441,000.00 (€ 410,958.90) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Toyin Ojih Odutola have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Through Line in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,198,000.00 (€ 1,947,373.08).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 441.000,00 (€ 410.958,90) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
