Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work The Future is Always Bright, Study 2 by Tomokazu Matsuyama was worth HKD 1,375,000.00 (€ 155,747.48) to a buyer in December 2021. This price was achieved in the auction 21st Century Art Day Sale at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tomokazu Matsuyama - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Something Came Together, which sold at auction in April last year for HKD 5,040,000.00 (€ 609,372.69).

Die Arbeit The Future is Always Bright, Study 2 von Tomokazu Matsuyama war einem Käufer im Dezember 2021 HKD 1.375.000,00 (€ 155.747,48) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 250.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Tomokazu Matsuyama mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Something Came Together beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für HKD 5.040.000,00 (€ 609.372,69) versteigert wurde.
