In September 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Portrait Of Samuel Jaudon by Thomas Sully. The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,652.65) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sully achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).

Im September 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Samuel Jaudon von Thomas Sully zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 10.652,65) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Sully erzielen.
