Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Sully could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in July 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Mrs. John Redman Coxe (Sarah Cox) changed hands for USD 6,950.00 (€ 5,902.84) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sully achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).
