Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 5,976.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sully achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Woman von Thomas Sully kam im Oktober 2013 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 5.976,90) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Sully erzielen.
