This artwork by Thomas Sully achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in December 2020. In the American Art auction, the work General Jackson After the Battle of New Orleans sold for USD 94,500.00 (€ 77,269.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Sully - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson, which sold at auction in May 2003 for USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Sully erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit General Jackson After the Battle of New Orleans für USD 94.500,00 (€ 77.269,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Sully mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Jefferson beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für USD 209.100,00 (€ 177.715,45) versteigert wurde.
