Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Sully could be acquired at Christies in New York in March 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Portrait of Major George Bender changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,469.02) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Sully achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Thomas Jefferson in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 209,100.00 (€ 177,715.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Sully konnte im März 2010 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture wechselte die Arbeit Portrait of Major George Bender für USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.469,02) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Sully erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Jefferson im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 209.100,00 (€ 177.715,45).
