The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,510.00 (€ 17,877.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2003 the work 'Nelson's patent bridge for boarding First Rates' at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February, 1797 was auctioned for GBP 24,675.00 (€ 34,378.49).
