In August 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work A British Frigate stopping to rescue a man overboard whilst chasing an American Cutter by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen.. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,772.32), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Nelson's patent bridge for boarding First Rates' at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February, 1797 in May 2003 with an auction result of GBP 24,675.00 (€ 34,378.49).

Im August 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit A British Frigate stopping to rescue a man overboard whilst chasing an American Cutter von Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.875,00 (€ 4.772,32) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Nelson's patent bridge for boarding First Rates' at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February, 1797 im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 24.675,00 (€ 34.378,49).
