In June 2014 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The Blockade Of Cadiz, 1797: The Spanish Fleet Lying In The Port Of Cadiz With A Royal Navy Cutter Patrolling The Harbour by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen.. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,466.35). Admittedly, works by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Nelson's patent bridge for boarding First Rates' at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February, 1797 in May 2003 with an auction result of GBP 24,675.00 (€ 34,378.49).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Blockade Of Cadiz, 1797: The Spanish Fleet Lying In The Port Of Cadiz With A Royal Navy Cutter Patrolling The Harbour von Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 4.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.466,35) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Nelson's patent bridge for boarding First Rates' at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February, 1797 im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 24.675,00 (€ 34.378,49).
