Royal George, Accompanied By The Royal Flotilla, For The First Visit Of A Reigning Monarch To Scotland Since 1650 by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2013. It changed hands for a price of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,529.45) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Buttersworth, Sen. - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Nelson's patent bridge for boarding First Rates' at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent, 14th February, 1797, which sold at auction in May 2003 for GBP 24,675.00 (€ 34,378.49).
