Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sans titre by Sophie Taeuber-Arp was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,295.00 (€ 2,223.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sophie Taeuber-Arp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition dans un cercle blanc sur fond noir in February 2019 with an auction result of GBP 187,500.00 (€ 218,725.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sans titre von Sophie Taeuber-Arp im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.295,00 (€ 2.223,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sophie Taeuber-Arp erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Composition dans un cercle blanc sur fond noir im Februar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 218.725,28).
