This artwork by Shusaku Arakawa achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in May this year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction, the work Sculpting sold for USD 69,850.00 (€ 65,562.23) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shusaku Arakawa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vertical Thought, which sold at auction in October 2017 for GBP 137,500.00 (€ 156,776.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Shusaku Arakawa erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Sculpting für USD 69.850,00 (€ 65.562,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Shusaku Arakawa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Vertical Thought beobachtet, die im Oktober 2017 für GBP 137.500,00 (€ 156.776,91) versteigert wurde.
