Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sam Durant could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Curated auction, the work 1853, Artists Document Us Expedition To Japan changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,170.32) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Durant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Can Anyone Hear Me? in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 43,205.38).
