Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Standing Upside Down by Sam Durant was auctioned at Christies in Milan in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 4,500.00 – 6,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 2,375.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Durant achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Can Anyone Hear Me? in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 43,205.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Standing Upside Down von Sam Durant im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Mailand versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 4.500,00 – 6.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 2.375,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sam Durant erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Can Anyone Hear Me? im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 43.205,38).
