Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Australian Untitled 1985 by Robert Hunter was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 9,000.00 (€ 4,641.09). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Hunter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of George Rochfort, 2nd Earl of Belvedere, and his second wife Jane, daughter of Rev. James Mackay, the latter holding a baby in her arms, three-quarter-length, seated on a sofa, the former in Volunteer uniform, in an interior with a d in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 149,650.00 (€ 234,353.92
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Australian Untitled 1985 von Robert Hunter im November 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 9.000,00 (€ 4.641,09) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Hunter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group portrait of George Rochfort, 2nd Earl of Belvedere, and his second wife Jane, daughter of Rev.
