Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Nobleman, Probably Nicholas Loftus, Viscount Loftus Of Ely (C.1687-1763) by Robert Hunter was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 6,126.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Hunter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of George Rochfort, 2nd Earl of Belvedere, and his second wife Jane, daughter of Rev. James Mackay, the latter holding a baby in her arms, three-quarter-length, seated on a sofa, the former in Volunteer uniform, in an interior with a d in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 149,650.00 (€ 234,353.92
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Group portrait of George Rochfort, 2nd Earl of Belvedere, and his second wife Jane, daughter of Rev. James Mackay, the latter holding a baby in her arms, three-quarter-length, seated on a sofa, the former in Volunteer uniform, in an interior with a d im Mai 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 149.650,00 (€ 234.353,92).
