Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Robert Hunter was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Melbourne in May 2004. The price achieved of AUD 26,290.00 (€ 15,360.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Hunter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Group portrait of George Rochfort, 2nd Earl of Belvedere, and his second wife Jane, daughter of Rev. James Mackay, the latter holding a baby in her arms, three-quarter-length, seated on a sofa, the former in Volunteer uniform, in an interior with a d in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 149,650.00 (€ 234,353.92

Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Robert Hunter wurde im Mai 2004 in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 26.290,00 (€ 15.360,40) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Hunter erzielen.
