In May 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Systematic Citizen Xiv by Riyas Komu. The »bidding war« ended at USD 79,000.00 (€ 50,771.21), 32% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Riyas Komu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Designated March of a Petro - Angel (or Desert March), which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 146,500.00 (€ 104,040.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 32 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Systematic Citizen Xiv von Riyas Komu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 79.000,00 (€ 50.771,21) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Riyas Komu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Designated March of a Petro - Angel (or Desert March) beobachtet, die im September 2008 für USD 146.500,00 (€ 104.040,91) versteigert wurde.
