This artwork by Rameshwar Broota achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March last year. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work Portrait of an Artist I sold for USD 151,200.00 (€ 136,302.17) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rameshwar Broota have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Numbers in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 912,000.00 (€ 710,667.81).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Rameshwar Broota erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of an Artist I für USD 151.200,00 (€ 136.302,17) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rameshwar Broota auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Numbers im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 912.000,00 (€ 710.667,81).
