The work Water Tower Project by Rachel Whiteread was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2011. The result of USD 4,000.00 (€ 2,868.00) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rachel Whiteread achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Colours) in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 445,250.00 (€ 565,695.14).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Water Tower Project von Rachel Whiteread kam im Oktober 2011 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 4.000,00 (€ 2.868,00) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rachel Whiteread erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Colours) im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 445.250,00 (€ 565.695,14).
